Your Bridal Styling Preview Session – What Really Matters
For more than 15 years, I have been working as a bridal stylist, supporting brides on their journey towards a wedding look that does not feel like a transformation, but entirely like themselves. During a Preview Session – often referred to as a bridal trial – I often experience how much anticipation and emotion come with this moment: the wedding is drawing closer, everything suddenly feels more real – and there is often one question at the heart of it all: Will the look I have in mind truly suit me and still feel like me?
That is exactly what the Preview Session is for. Not to turn you into someone else. And not to determine whether you can trust me as your stylist in the first place. It is about understanding your vision, your wishes and all the details that matter to you – and translating them into a bridal look that feels harmonious with you, your dress and the atmosphere of your wedding.
For me, a successful Preview Session ultimately creates one thing above all: clarity. For you as the bride – and for me as your stylist. So you can approach your wedding day feeling reassured, while I know exactly how to prepare for you.

What Is the Real Purpose of a Preview Session?
For me, a Preview Session does not begin with questions such as: How would you like your hair styled? or How defined would you like your bridal make-up to be? I first want to understand how you want to see and feel yourself on your wedding day. That is why I never consider your bridal look in isolation. Your wedding dress and neckline, jewellery and hair accessories, your veil, colour palette, floral concept and the overall atmosphere of your wedding all form part of one complete picture. Hair and make-up should feel naturally connected to it.
This is also why a Live Preview Session ideally takes place once many of the details surrounding your wedding have become more tangible.
And, of course, it is just as much about you. How do you usually wear your make-up? What do you love about yourself? What tends to make you feel uncomfortable? Which looks inspire you – and which elements would you perhaps rather not see on yourself?
Some answers are expressed directly. Others reveal themselves through your body language, the way you look at yourself in the mirror or the smallest reactions between two sentences. For me, good consultation also means understanding what you may not say out loud.

Live Preview Session oder Virtual Design Session
A Preview Session does not necessarily mean that your bridal hair and make-up need to be fully recreated weeks before the wedding.
Live Preview Session
The Live Preview Session is the in-person format of what is traditionally known as a bridal trial and usually takes place 6–8 weeks before your wedding. We discuss your wishes, look at your skin, hair and personal style, and bring your bridal look to life. This allows you to see how your ideas translate on you and which proportions, intensities and details feel most harmonious. At the same time, we can assess how your hair behaves and which textures work particularly beautifully with your skin. Inspiration provides a direction – but what truly matters is what feels right for you. For Destination Weddings, the Live Preview Session can take place during a location visit or on the day before the wedding. Virtual Design Session
More and more of my brides choose a Virtual Design Session. It allows us to develop your bridal look together via video call – flexibly and without the need for additional travel. We discuss your skin and hair, look at your dress, accessories and inspiration images, and turn them into a clear styling concept. Photos of your dress, veil or jewellery can be sent in advance or simply shown during the call. We also discuss whether anything else may be beneficial before the wedding – for example a hair appointment, a hydrating skin treatment, extensions or a particular product. After many years of bridal experience, I do not need to physically recreate every look in advance. I know which techniques work for different hair, skin and styling requirements, allowing me to prepare your wedding day with confidence and precision – while always having more than one solution in mind.
I would never work without proper preparation.
A thorough consultation does not only give you reassurance.
It also allows me to arrive on your wedding day calm, precise and fully prepared.
When Do I Recommend a Live Preview Session?
From my perspective, not every bride necessarily needs an in-person Preview Session. There are, however, certain situations in which I particularly recommend one.
If you already have a very clear idea of your styling but find it difficult to imagine whether the look will truly suit you, a Live Preview can provide valuable clarity. The same applies if you regularly do your own make-up or style your hair and know exactly what makes you feel most like yourself.
If you have never been professionally styled before, a Live Preview can provide a great deal of reassurance. It gives you the opportunity to experience what it feels like to entrust your hair and make-up to someone else and to discover, without pressure, which level of intensity and which style feel right for you.
If you have known sensitivities or reactions to cosmetic ingredients, I recommend a Live Preview. This gives us the opportunity to test products calmly and observe how your skin responds. If necessary, we can plan suitable alternatives well in advance – giving you additional reassurance.
What a Preview Session Is Not For
This is particularly important to me: A Preview Session is not there to determine whether I am the right stylist for you. That fundamental trust should already be there – through my work, my signature style, our communication and the feeling you had when choosing to book with me. The Preview Session may give you additional reassurance and confirm your decision – but it should not have to create that trust in the first place. It is also not there to test the longevity of your styling over many hours. After many years of experience, I know which products and techniques are needed to ensure that your hair and make-up remain reliable throughout your wedding day. The same applies to timing: I can accurately assess in advance how much time I will need for your bridal hair, bridal make-up and each stage of the styling process.
For me, a Preview Session is not about perfection. It is about creation. Together, we define the direction, refine the details and create a clear vision of how your styling should look and feel on your wedding day.

Why I Prefer to Work With You One-to-One During Your Preview Session
You are, of course, welcome to bring someone with you. However, I prefer to spend the main part of the Preview Session just with you. The reason is simple: I want to give you my undivided attention.
Not every woman immediately says: I love this or I would like this to be different.
Some need a little time to understand what truly feels right. Sometimes I can already tell from the way you look at yourself in the mirror or from a subtle change in your body language that we may want to refine a detail – or that a single brushstroke might simply feel like a little too much for you.
I want to be able to notice these subtle signals. Without outside opinions. Without someone – even with the very best intentions – deciding what looks beautiful before you have had the space to feel and express what truly feels like you.

What Should You Bring to Your Preview Session?
The more I understand the overall vision for your wedding, the more precisely I can advise you.
Why should you wear a white – or ideally ivory – top to your Live Preview Session? There is a practical reason: it allows us to assess more accurately how your skin, make-up and chosen shades work in harmony with the colour of your wedding dress. It is equally helpful during a Virtual Design Session, as it allows me to read colours more accurately through the camera. This gives me a better sense of your skin undertone and helps me assess how your hair and eye colour will harmonise with the styling we are creating.
Why Does a Preview Session Cost What It Does – and What Goes Into It?
From the outside, a Preview Session may initially look like two and a half hours of hair and make-up. For me, however, it begins well before you arrive – and continues after you leave. Before your appointment, I prepare the studio, my workspace, products, tools and equipment. Everything is clean, hygienically prepared and within reach, so that once you arrive, my full attention can remain with you.
During a Live Preview, we are not simply creating “a practice hairstyle and bridal make-up”. I analyse, advise, observe, refine and consider every detail in relation to the overall look. This is precisely why a Preview Session can often require even more concentration than the wedding day itself.
On your wedding day, we are working towards something we have already developed. I know the concept, I have documented the details and I know which products, techniques and steps I will need. During the Preview Session, that concept is still being created. Afterwards, I document your look with photos and videos, update your client file and record the products, techniques and any remaining details. Where necessary, I research product recommendations, organise extensions or specific products and update information for your wedding planner.
This preparation is also part of my work following a Virtual Design Session. So for me, your Preview Session does not end when we say goodbye.
From Preview Session to Wedding Day
This preparation changes the atmosphere of your Getting Ready later on. On the wedding day, we no longer need to make fundamental decisions. We already know one another. I know what you want – and you know how I work.
That creates a sense of ease, anticipation and space for conversation. For all those small moments on the morning of your wedding that you should not have to spend wondering whether your styling will work.
Preparation creates reassurance – but the wedding day brings the magic and allows your vision to come to life.

The Moment You Truly See Yourself as a Bride
During a Live Preview Session, there is a moment I particularly love. Hair and make-up are complete. Perhaps we add your hair accessory or veil. You look at yourself in the mirror – and suddenly, everything comes together that until then existed only as individual ideas, dress fittings, inspiration images and plans.
Many women truly see themselves as a bride for the first time in that moment. And sometimes, the exact sentence I am hoping for follows: “Yes. That’s me.” Often followed, with a smile, by: “Why can’t I look like this every day?”
For me, this is the essence of beautiful bridal styling. Not the most dramatic transformation possible. Not a face you first have to recognise again when you look in the mirror. But your own beauty – refined, radiant and consciously revealed.
I do not apply make-up to transform you, but to reveal your individuality.
